Staff

We have a dedicated 100% farm animal team, consisting of one partner, three full-time assistants and two part-time assistants.

Between us we have over 100 years of experience working with farm animals!

All members of the team have a sound understanding of the agricultural industry and understand the challenges facing modern-day farmers.

Donal Ryan MVB MRCVS

Donal first joined the practice in 1979, but then left to work in Ireland and Devon for a few years. However, he couldn’t resist returning in 1988 and is now one of the farm animal partners. He is particularly interested in Bovine Tuberculosis and promoting animal welfare, both of which he is extremely passionate about.

Marion Maggs BVSc MRCVS

Marion joined the practice in 1979 and is the longest serving farm animal vet working as a part-time farm animal assistant.

Steve Shiles BVSc MRCVS

Steve qualified in 2005 and joined the practice as a farm animal assistant in 2010, after working in a large farm animal practice in Salisbury for 5 years. He comes from a local farming family, which runs a beef and arable unit. Steve is particularly interested in beef cattle and bull fertility and is keen to develop these areas at the practice.

Jenny Grewal BVSc MRCVS

Jenny qualified from Bristol in 2008 and, after a brief period as a small animal locum, undertook an internship in farm animal practice at the University of Bristol. After this she continued to work at the University’s farm practice for 6 months, before joining the Hale Veterinary Group in 2010. She enjoys all aspects of farm work, but has a particular interest in sheep, goats and alpacas, and hopes to develop this interest at The Hale Veterinary Group. She is currently studying for the RCVS Certificate in Cattle Health and Production.

Bobby Hyde BVMedSci BVM BVS MRCVS

Bobby joined us in 2013, after graduating from the Nottingham University. His particular interest is in herd health work, including farm data analysis, disease eradication planning, as well as routine fertility work. Outside of work, Bobby enjoys mountain biking, mountain climbing, and is fantastic when it comes to missing at clay pigeon shooting.
