Small Animal Clinic

The practice was originally founded at the end of the nineteenth century by a Mr Williams at 11 Langley Road. It was presumed that he had a Christian name but no one ever used it. Being the only vet in the small market town he was a person of some importance and although there was very little science associated with veterinary workin those days it is likely that what he lacked in knowledge he made up in manual dexterity. The main way of getting to the clients was a pony and trap!

Since those early days the practice has kept up with developments and needs and in the 1960’s and 70’s the small animal part was established with surgeries in Melksham, Corsham and Calne complementing the new enlarged premises at Hale House in Langley Road, Chippenham.

In 1995 the main surgery in Chippenham became a Veterinary Hospital. This is not just a name but an assurance to you and your pets that the best possible care can be provided by us. As well as strict rules regarding hygiene, working practice and equipment we also have genuine 24 hour hospitalisation facilities. This means that a veterinary nurse is not only on duty but is living at the surgery providing any nursing your pet may require night and day.

We have not ignored the other surgeries in the group. We merged with the Henney practices in Melksham and Corsham resulting in enlarged and modern surgeries. The new premises in Calne again demonstrates our commitment to our patients.

Pencils and paints at the ready!
