Referrals
Ophthalmology
Nick Burden obtained his Certificate in Veterinary Ophthalmology in 1986 and immediately joined the BVA/Kennel Club/ISDS eye panel to examine for hereditary eye disease in the dog. Animals are examined in the Hospital at Chippenham but on occasions eye clinics of 25 dogs or more are held at locations around the country. The examination requires the Kennel Club registration document for the dog and after the examination a certificate is given with the results.
This shows the drainage angle of a Welsh Springer Spaniel. In places there is a normal area with adjacent areas showing an absent drainage angle. This dog would be susceptible to developing glaucoma later in life and should not be bred from.
Dermatology
We are delighted to have the services of Mrs Bridget Gregory, a certifcate holder in Veterinary Dermatology, to do Dermatology referrals. These are normally done at the Melksham Surgery. For further details please contact the Hospital on 01249 653561.
