Veterinary Surgeons
Nick Burden BVSc CertVOphthal MRCVS
Qualified at Bristol University in 1978 and joined the Hale Veterinary Group as a new graduate. He became a Partner in the practice in 1980 and gained a Certificate in Veterinary Ophthalmology in 1986. He spends all his time split between Melksham and our Chippenham Hospital. His work is split between general practice and BVA/KC ISDS work examining dogs for hereditary eye disease. Away from work he combines his interests in photography and ornithology.
Malcolm Ellis BVetMed MRCVS
Qualified in 1998 from the Royal Veterinary College, London. He worked in mixed-animal practice in Bath for 4yrs before furthering his interest in small animal work at the Hale Veterinary Group. He works in the Chippenham and Calne surgeries and became a small-animal Partner in the practice in 2005. Veterinary interests include endoscopy, abdominal ultrasound and all aspects of surgery. Outside work he follows the ups and downs of Manchester Utd, tries his best at playing golf and snooker and is a fan of F1 racing.
Alison Sullivan BVetMed MRCVS
Qualified from the Royal Veterinary College, London in 1992 and came to the Hale Veterinary Group as a new graduate. She spends her time split between the Calne and Chippenham surgeries. Her veterinary interests are general small animal medicine and cardiology. She is a keen golfer and better than she would have you believe!
Jonathon ‘Jack’ Russell BVSc MRCVS
Joined the Hale Veterinary Group after qualifying from Bristol University in 2002. He is currently studying for a certificate in small animal medicine. His main clinical interests include ultrasound, blood-based disorders and medical oncology. He is also at home with all aspects of general practice. His bouncy rescue dog ‘Bling’ ensures that he has his hands full out of office hours as well!
Tina Scudder BVSc MRCVS
Qualified in 2000 from The University of Liverpool. Tina has, since qualifying, worked at a busy mixed practice in Devon. Most of her work has been in small animal and she worked at a branch practice and also a tier 3 veterinary hospital offering similar services and standard of care as our own hospital in Chippenham. She owns a dog and is keen on walking, keeping fit, singing and amateur dramatics. She has a Preliminary Certificate in Veterinary Homeopathy and is currently studying for the European Certificate in Small Animal Surgery. She also has a particular interest in small mammal / rabbit medicine.
Jenny Hamilton-Ible BVsc MRCVS
Graduated from Bristol University in 2006 and went straight into small animal practice. She spent 2 and half years in Abergavenny, South Wales, before working as a locum for 18 months. Jenny joined the Hale Veterinary Group in June 2010. She enjoys all aspects of small animal work but has a particular interest in medicine, and wants to work towards a certificate in this area. Outside of work, she is very active, enjoying kayaking, scuba diving, trekking, horse riding, mountain biking and climbing. She recently completed a trek to Everest Base Camp in Nepal.
Frances De Moraville MA VetMB MRCVS
Qualified from Cambridge University in 1982. Apart from 4yrs of full-time motherhood she has worked in veterinary practice in Oxfordshire and Wiltshire since qualifying. She joined the Hale Veterinary Group in 2005 and predominantly works in the Melksham branch. She has concentrated on small animal work for the last few years with a particular interest in soft tissue surgery and dentistry. She lives in a sports-mad household with her husband, 3 sons, 2 dogs and 1 cat. Other interests include music, reading and gardening.
Lucy Hayes BVSc MRCVS
Qualified from Bristol University in 1996 and joined the Hale Veterinary Group in 1998 after a short time in mixed practice. She enjoys all aspects of small animal medicine but has particular interests in rabbit medicine, medical oncology and behavioural disorders. She now works part-time at the Melksham branch where she also sees behavioural referrals. Outside work she is a keen long distance runner and re-enacts the English Civil War in aid of charity. She is also devoted to her two cats ‘Herbert’ and ‘Tiddler’.
Sheila Hibbert BVetMed MRCVS
Qualified in 1981 from the Royal Veterinary College, London. She works part-time in the Corsham branch and at any of the surgeries when providing locum cover. She enjoys the challenges that general practice can bring and is particularly interested in feline medicine. Apart from keeping her husband Graham (one of the large animal partners in the practice) in clean shirts, she runs around after 2 teenage sons and is owned by a rescue moggie, 2 Burmese cats and a Border Terrier. Her current aim is to improve her Italian speaking!
Liz Hall BVSc MRCVS
Graduated from Bristol University in 1981 and went into general practice involving mainly horses and small animals. She had a career break to bring up her 3 daughters and gained at PGCE which enabled her to teach secondary school science. Her menagerie is now down to 3 cats and a husband! Hobbies include travelling, reading, riding and gardening.
Sarah Long BVSc MRCVS
Sarah is the newest member of the veterinary team. She graduated from Liverpool University in June 2011. She is combining the experience and knowledge base of the established veterinary team at the Hale Vet Group with the most recent veterinary course teaching.
She is happy to be back home in Wiltshire and is primarily based at the Chippenham hospital. She enjoys all aspects of general practice and particularly finds dermatology and surgical cases rewarding. Outside of work she enjoys horse riding and dancing.
